Two types of crane hire...

The regulations covering the hiring of mobile cranes. The Safe Use Of Cranes (BS7121) & Lifting Of Load Equipment Regulations™ (LOLER). Both clearly outline the duties and responsibilities of all personnel involved. Under current regulations there are two types of crane hire, both with different responsibilities.

C.P.A. Hire...

is the most basic form of crane hire. The supplier is responsible for providing a fully tested, maintained and certified crane and a competent operator. The hirer should be an appointed person capable of: Selecting the correct crane for the job, Have first hand knowledge of planning crane lifts, Be capable of writing a Method statement , Risk assessment and provide a qualified Slinger / Signaller.

Contract lift...

A Contract lift is a complete planning process / management operation. The hirer is responsible for providing accurate information relative to the lift. The provision of an experienced "Appointed Person" and Slinger / Signaller would be provided by the lifting company

** Insurance cover provided as standard in a contract lift will be:

  • Loss of or damage to plant/equipment caused solely by the negligence of Rapid Response Solutions in the performance of the lifting contract, a maximum liability of £1,000,000.00
  • Loss of or damage to third party property caused solely by the negligence of Rapid Response Solutions in the performance of the lifting contract,
  • A maximum liability of £25,000.00 in respect of lifted goods
  • A maximum liability of £5,000,000.00 in respect to loss of or damage to 3rd party property or death or injury to 3rd party persons

Under Contract Lift conditions, the customer still retains certain liabilities and therefore should hold adequate insurance to provide protection against incidents arising from for example:

  • Own negligence;
  • Inadequate or unstable ground conditions;
  • Inadequate or incorrect information supplied in connection with the goods being lifted.
  • Delays & or hold ups, (winding off).

All insurance cover can be increased if informed and agreed in writing, subject to increased premiums.
